Everyone decided that they wanted to take a trip this year for Spring Vacation. We decided on Universal Studios in Hollywood, CA. The baby isn't too keen on car travel so it had to be somewhere rather close. It ended up being a fun and relatively easy trip.
We stayed at the BLVD Hotel in Studio City, walking or cheap taxi distance from Universal. It was a modern and cute boutique hotel with a strange little pool in the underground parking garage.Which we of course tested out within an hour of checking in. We had to dress the baby up in her very first swim suit and take pictures. This was a very successful swimming excursion, but more on that in a later post.
They also had sugar free red bull on hand at their "cafe" in the lobby. That scored major points with the Mr. No shuttle, but like I said, we walked to the park (10 minutes) and took a taxi home that night ($5 +tip). The first night there we hopped on the 101 for a short trip to Hollywood and Highland. I showed the family the footprints and Groman's Chinese Theatre, we ate at a nice family friendly Italian restaurant at the "mall" and we took pictures with the wacky Hollywood Blvd. Costumed Entertainers.
Hollywood Blvd. at 10 pm on a weeknight is not for the faint of heart. I wore the baby in an Ergo carrier and crazies people STILL tried to reach in and touch her!
Speaking of the baby, Universal ended up being a blast. Who knew that a theme park would be so much fun with a infant under 6 months? Yeah, she is kind of a dream baby, though. She smiled, slept, stared and enjoyed ALL day. What a baby! We even nursed/napped in a quiet tented area near Shrek 4D.
The next day we me up with Aunties for brunch at the BEST place ever! One of my all time favorite eateries in LA,
Porto's Bakery. YUM! I eat things there I wouldn't eat in my wildest dreams anywhere else. After that it was on to window shopping, (the special kind of shopping where you enter every store but have ZERO intention of buying anything) also referred as "Mr. waits outside due to humiliation shopping". Rodeo Drive, Bitches!
